December 15, 2025
HARRISBURG – Six grants awarded last week by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission will support preservation and educational programs across Dauphin County, according to Rep. Tom Mehaffie (R-Dauphin).
The commission awarded grants across 59 counties to support programs not directly funded by other state agencies. Among them were:
• $30,000 for the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum in South Hanover Township.
• $6,200 for the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society.
• $9,000 for the Historical Society of Dauphin County.
• $30,000 for the National Civil War Museum.
• $40,000 for the M.S. Hershey Foundation (for The Hershey Story Museum).
• $50,000 for the Whitaker Center for Science & the Arts.
“These entities are doing important work to ensure our region’s unique history is highlighted and preserved for many years to come,” Mehaffie said. “They offer programs tailored to individual age groups and rely heavily on volunteers who are passionate about serving others.”
Mehaffie highlighted the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society’s efforts to restructure its administrative staff to best use resources. Founded in 1991, the historical society maintains the Hershey History Center to provide interpretive exhibits and library resources.
