Expanded Program to Benefit Local Food Banks, Mehaffie Says
December 16, 2025
HARRISBURG – Dauphin County nonprofit organizations like Midwest Food Bank and Central PA Food Bank will benefit from an expansion of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) in the recently passed state budget, according to Rep. Tom Mehaffie (R-Dauphin).
Midwest Food Bank in Lower Swatara Township was approved for $55,250 worth of tax credits; Central PA Food Bank headquartered in the outskirts of Harrisburg was approved for $5.6 million worth of tax credits.
The NAP allows businesses to seek tax credits when they contribute to nonprofit organizations revitalizing communities. The 2025-26 state budget doubled the program’s funding to reach $72 million.
“The organizations benefiting from this program are serving some of the most vulnerable members of our region. I’m thankful we lawmakers were able to recognize their contributions by growing this important program,” Mehaffie said.
