Grant to Ease Traffic Congestion in Derry Township, Mehaffie Says
January 5, 2026
HARRISBURG – A $764,320 grant recently awarded to Derry Township will help improve the flow of traffic in Hershey, according to Rep. Tom Mehaffie (R-Dauphin).
The Green Light-Go Program seeks to reduce congestion and make roads safer for motorists and pedestrians. It awarded nearly $30 million in grants to 57 municipalities in late December.
“Derry Township is the economic engine of Dauphin County. Providing easy, safe access to homes and businesses ensures it can continue to play that role for many years to come,” Mehaffie said.
Applicants to the Green Light-Go Program commit a percentage of matching dollars to upgrade existing traffic signals through measures like installing light-emitting diode (LED) technology and retiming control systems.
